As someone who helps families and individuals navigate Fort Lauderdale’s unique real estate market, I see firsthand how Florida’s housing landscape is shifting. It’s not just about the number of homes available, but whether those homes truly fit buyers’ needs—budget, location, lifestyle, and life stage all play a role. Florida is a prime example: even with plenty of listings, it’s tough when most homes don’t align with what the next generation is actually looking for, or can afford.
Affordability here means more than a sale price. Insurance, association dues, maintenance, storm risk, and even dependence on a car all weigh into whether a home makes sense financially. I’m especially aware of how important it is for people to move within their own communities—whether that means downsizing from a waterfront home, finding a cottage, or seeking out a townhouse that fits changing needs.
The big question for our market: will future buyers be able to step into these homes, inherited or newly built, if there aren’t more choices across prices, sizes, and neighborhoods? It’s a challenge I’m passionate about tackling, one closing at a time—always staying mindful of what truly matters to each client.
